Artist Music Series Concert: George Vatchnadze

Friday Nov 7 @ 7:30 PM

Artist Music Series

Taking center stage will be Vatchnadze, who joined DePaul University as an associate professor of piano in 2011.

The renowned musician has performed with orchestras and in recital throughout the United States, Canada, Great Britain, France, Netherlands, Finland, Italy, Israel, Russia, Japan, Taiwan, Chile and Guatemala.

In 1997, Vatchnadze made his recital debut at the prestigious Edinburgh International Music Festival and received the Herald Angel Award, presented by the Scottish Herald newspaper. Two years later, he made his New York recital debut at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall.

“Vatchnadze is a consummate artist, now at the height of his musical and intellectual powers,” music critic Faubion Bowers has written in American Record Guide. “He can do absolutely anything he wants at the piano. He commands delicate pianissimi, massive diapasons and everything in between”

In addition to his numerous concerts around the world, Vatchnadze recorded two CDs with the Tbilisi Symphony Orchestra and served on the jury of the 2008 World Piano Competition.
